Being a Portland native and a Blazers fan, I remember back when the Rose Garden Arena opened in the mid-nineties, and have a certain sentiment towards the name being attached to.. well, a time when the Blazers were actually good. Yes, I know the Blazers are on a seven game win streak right now, but we can't be too hasty here.
Owner Paul Allen's company, Vulcan (the company name that is like that tattoo of a naked midget you wish you never got), has recently opened discussions for a corporate naming deal similar to the deal that was negotiated for the Seahawks' stadium, Qwest Field.
My thought is that with a million dollars, I could negotiate with Vulcan to rename the stadium to something much more interesting than what one of these deep-pocketed local companies might call it.
So naturally, the first thing I need is an awesome name for the new Rose Garden. With a super awesome name, ticket sales would go up, which would give us leverage to negotiate a lower price for actually purchasing the rights to naming the arena. After that, coming up with a million bucks will be cake. We can just get venture capital. Investors dole out cash for all kinds of crazy ideas, so that would be no problem.
That's the plan. So help me out here.... What would you call the Rose Garden if you had a million bucks?
